Parent participation and engagement is integral to the well being of our School, and parents are encouraged to play an active role in all aspects of building a community around our students.

The Parent Council has three main goals and uses these to organize their meeting agenda and their work.

  • To provide educational opportunities for parents that deepen their understanding and appreciation of Waldorf Education
  • To inspire, nourish, and celebrate members of the SNH community
  • To serve as a communication bridge within the SNH community

The Parents Association acts as the primary facilitator for parent participation and is led by parent co-chairs representing each section of the School. Within each group, there is a minimum of two parents who formally serve in the role of “class representative” with staggered two-year terms; however, all parents are included in the PA and are invited to participate in monthly meetings.

The Parents Association organizes activities both as fundraisers and as community-builders, with a spirit of inclusiveness and fun.

The co-chairs meet monthly with senior administration to discuss the upcoming PA meeting, School events and activities, as well as areas of question or concern arising anywhere in the School. This open and honest exchange of information creates a mood of collaboration and cooperation, which permeates the larger parent community. The Faculty Chair, School Administrator, and other senior leaders attend the monthly PA meeting to update parents on School activities, provide information regarding School policy, and to solicit parent feedback on important questions.
